Gail Mahan
MARQUETTE, MI- Gail Mahan, 75, of Marquette, passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 26, 2023, at home, surrounded by family and under the care of UP Home Health & Hospice.
She was born January 6, 1948, in Houghton, Michigan, a daughter of the late Hubert C. and Rebecca W. (Wilkins) Hautala. She was raised in the Redridge area of Houghton and was a 1966 graduate of Houghton High School.
She also attended courses at NMU.
Gail was an artist who worked in the mediums of paint, jewelry and poetry. Her works were often displayed in the Winter Hill Green Gallery and The Gallery. Her interests included spending time with her family and her dog.
She is survived by two children, Dan Mahan of Fairbeault, MN and Shannon (Dan) Dauphinais of Marquette; grandchildren, Briana, Slena, Hayden, Parker, Cory, Hailee, Menisha, Yazzy, Liam and Emmen; great-grandchildren, Loki, Finnlee and Kamdan; and siblings, Linda Heikkinen of Oregon and Hubert Hautila, Jr. of Houghton, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Tammy; husband, Larry Mahan; and siblings, Annette and Eugene.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 12:00 pm at Park Cemetery with Rev. Tom Merkel officiating.
