Fae Denise Susan Presley
SKANDIA, MI- Fae Denise Stuart Presley OCDS, nee Hampshire, passed away October 16, 2023 at her home in Skandia after a five year battle with cancer.
She is fondly remembered by everyone who encountered her as a loving, warm and friendly person. Raised in the thumb of Michigan, she eventually moved to the Marquette area with her husband who works in the mines. The great passion of Fae’s life was, firstly, Christian faith and the care and formation of her family.
A member of St. Peter Cathedral, she shared her love for Jesus with everyone she encountered and left a memorable impression upon each person with whom she shared a moment.
She was preceded in death by her Father, Ronald G. Hampshire, and her first husband Edward R. Stuart. She is survived by her second husband Timothy S. Presley; mother Floy Hampshire; five children; Joseph (Barbara) Stuart, Heidi (Ryan) Pohl, Rachel (Jeremy) McDaniel, Lincoln (Laura) Stuart, Ian (Kateri) Stuart; Brothers Randy (Shirley) Hampshire and Kenneth Hampshire; thirteen grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Fae also leaves behind her beloved community of Secular Discalced Carmelite brothers and sisters who journeyed together with her toward Christian perfection. And lastly the countless friends and neighbors that she treasured so dearly, no matter their faith, creed or raceÃ-all were loved.
Diagnosed with multiple myeloma in September of 2018, Fae was nearly taken by the onslaught of the disease and through the skills, knowledge and due diligence of her healthcare providers, she was given a new lease on life and five more years to cultivate deeper relationships with family and friends. There were so many that were sterling in their helps: Doctor Scott Doughty, Dr. Sheetal Acharya, PA Steve Gualdoni , Dr. Fritz and Gayle Hoenke, Dr Rhama Warsame (Mayo Clinic), and the nursing staff in the oncology department at Marquette General hospital (with special thanks to Jennifer, Marcie and Diane who were with her from the beginning of her disease).
The Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Fae at St Peter Cathedral on Saturday October 21, 2023 at 1 p.m. with a luncheon following immediately after the Mass. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Marquette after the luncheon. All are invited to participate and pray with (and for) Fae as she continues her pilgrimage, being transformed into the image of Jesus, passing through the gates of death into eternal life.
Visitation will be at Canale-Tonella Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Friday, October 20, 2023from 3-6 pm followed by the office of the dead that will be prayed by her Carmelite brothers and sisters, in St Peter Cathedral at 7 pm with Rosary led by Deacon Don Thoren. All are welcome.
