Carmen Morrison
NEGUANEE, MI- Carmen Morrison, age 78, longtime Negaunee resident, passed away on Sunday October 22, 2023 at Mill Creek Senior Living Community while in the loving care of her family, and UP Home Health and Hospice.
Carmen was born in Ishpeming on December 5, 1944, daughter of the late Guido and Mary (Portale) Paveglio. She grew up in Ishpeming and was a graduate of Ishpeming High School, class of 1962. Following graduation she attended Cosmetology school, before starting her career at Marquette General Hospital where she was a unit clerk. Carmen married Robert “Bob” Morrison on January 20, 1973.
Carmen was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, and the Red Hats. She loved listening to music and dancing, and enjoyed painting, knitting, and crocheting.
Carmen is survived by her 2 children- Keri (Kirk) Johnson, Todd Morrison, 2 brothers- John Paveglio, James Paveglio, sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth and William Brownlee, brother-in-law- Stephen Morrison, granddaughter- Talia Johnson, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband- Robert Morrison, infant son- David Morrison, 2 brothers- Carmelo (Judy) Paveglio, Louis (Nancie) Paveglio, and 3 sisters-in-law- Miriam, Donna, and Jan Paveglio.
Following Carmen’s wishes, cremation will take place with graveside services to follow in the spring/summer of 2024 at the Negaunee Cemetery.
Carmen’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Kelly Stone and the entire staff of Mill Creek assisted living, Dr. Kaitlyn Joyce and her team, as well as the late Dr. Thomas Huffman and Marcie Snowaert for the amazing care Carmen received through her journey with Alzheimer’s.
