MARQUETTE, MI – Sharon R. Ellis, 83, of Marquette, entered eternal life with such courage and grace in the loving care of her children, Friday evening, September 1, 2023 at U.P. Health System – Marquette.

Sharon was born to Elwin and Ruth (O’Neill) Bell on April 25, 1940. Following high school graduation, Sharon married Victor L. Tuimala with whom she had five children. She later married, Howard L. Ellis, to whom she would be married for 40 years.

Sharon was employed by JC Penney Co. She also managed the Bishop Baraga School Cafeteria. She was later employed by Marquette General Hospital in the Operating Room as a Surgical Tech where she retired. Sharon’s dedicated work ethic was appreciated by many doctors and nurses and earned her the Employee of the Month award at the hospital.

Sharon was a member of the Gladstone Yacht Club, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge, where she and her husband would cook at many fish fry’s and special events. Sharon also enjoyed watching football and was a faithful Green Bay Packer fan.

Survivors include two daughters, Catherine Tuimala of Marquette and Connie (Shawn) Horton of Sault Ste. Marie; two sons, Vincent (Carolyn) Tuimala of Negaunee and Michael (Vickie) Tuimala of Boynton Beach, FL; 8 grandchildren, Adam Tuimala, Ashley and Kaitlin Tuimala, Seth, Zack (Taryn) Nick (Lauren) Horton, Cory (Robyn) Stille and Amy (Adam) Johnson; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Darlene (James) Jones; an aunt, Lillian Tuimala; also many loving nieces and nephews, she is also survived by her loving beagle, Kady Soo.

Preceding her in death besides her parents was her first husband, Victor Tuimala in 1975, second husband, Howard Ellis in 2023; in-laws, Martha and Reino Tuimala; her daughter, Carrie Rose and a grandson, Benjamin Rose; two brothers, Elwin (Margaret) Bell and William (Helen) Bell; one sister, Joan (Ralph) Hood.

Honoring Sharon’s wishes no services have been scheduled.
