Roger F. Paddock

MARQUETTE, MI – Roger F. Paddock, age 87, of Marquette, entered eternal life Saturday, September 23, 2023, at UP Health System Marquette, in the loving, comforting care of his family.

Born October 25, 1935, in Canandaigua, New York, a son of Frank David and Constance Irene (Rogers) Paddock, he was raised in New York State, graduating in 1954 from Clyde Central High School in Clyde, New York. He served in the US Army Airborne from 1958 to 1961 and following military service graduated from the Alfred Agricultural and Technical Institute in Alfred, New York with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Technology. From 1963 to 1966 he was employed as a construction engineer out of Skaneateles, New York. He later was employed with the Bechtel Construction Company as a construction superintendent and construction engineer at various job sites in over 10 states, retiring in 1995. Roger and his wife first resided in the Marquette area from 1975 to 1981, leaving due to employment relocation. They returned and have resided in Marquette since the mid-1990’s. He cherished time spent with friends and family especially when a friendly game of Uno was involved. Roger excelled at the habit of low level sports betting after retirement. An avid outdoorsman, Roger enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, and croquet, and had spent much of his retirement time upgrading his home and camp. Roger met his wife, Mary Ann, in Newark, New York with his dancing skills and married her a year later. Roger spent 65 years of marriage with his sweetheart, Mary Ann. He always put family first, even when it came to his two sons who were a handful! He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Wolcott Elks Lodge B.P.O.E #1763.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann (Gatz) Paddock, whom he married December 27, 1958 in Wolcott, NY; sons, Steven Paddock of Pikeville, KY; and Spencer Paddock of Richmond, KY; his grandchildren, Devin Paddock, Leah (Jamison) Husted, Kimberly Paddock, and Steven (Bobbi) Paddock; great-grandchildren, Paisley Paddock, Kinsley Paddock, and Huntley Paddock, and a soon-to-be expected great-grandson (NOT Elmer); brothers, John Paddock of Lyons, NY and Robert (Julie) Paddock of Newark, NY; sister-in-law, Jean Paddock of Burlington, KY; several nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Paddock, Donald Paddock, and Gerald Paddock; and sister-in-law, Gloria Paddock.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Saturday, September 30, beginning at 11:30 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Chaplain Marlin Kilpatrick will officiate.
