Suzanne “Sue” Marie Gregory

MARQUETTE, MI – In Loving Memory of Suzanne “Sue” Marie Gregory.

Suzanne Marie Gregory, age 50, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023, at INOVA Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria Virginia following a brief illness.

She was born August 7, 1972, in Marquette, Michigan, to Carol (Potvin) Poole and Paul Poole. She was a 1990 graduate of Marquette Senior High School. She married, Rod Gregory, on April 3, 1995, in Marquette MI. She worked as the School Bus Coordinator on Joint Base Anacostia Bolling, showing a remarkable ability of coordination and compassion in dealing with issues. Sue truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with friends and family, wine, and spending time with her nephews and nieces. Sue had an uncanny ability to reach people especially her “kids” in a deep and positive way. Prior to her job as a School Bus Coordinator, she began her work with “kids” as a School-Age Program Counselor, Joint Base Anacostia Bolling. Many children would be profoundly affected by her strong heart, stern discipline and loving engagement. She was often visited by children who had moved or graduated from the program to simply express their gratitude for her presence in their lives.

She is survived by her husband, Rod; nephew, Lee Poole, who she was a second mother to; mother, Carol Poole, mother-in-law, Valerie Gregory, sister, Sheri (Eric) Kromberg, nephew, Adam Poole, great-niece, Savannah (Dan) Poole-Soulliere, sister, Kathy (Jerry) Cox, great-niece, Peyton Scott, sister, Linda Poole, sister, Tammy (Donald) Baumdraher, nieces, Devan Baumdraher and Jessa Baumdraher and sister, Tracey (Rob) Pederson, niece Kayla (Dave) O’Donnell, great nephews, Jack and Peter, nephew, Cody (Zoe) Nordquist and special family friend, Bob (Smitty) Smith and many aunts, uncles and cousins and furry friends, who will miss her dearly.

As we get through this, we will remember one of Sue’s favorite quotes, “Challenge creates change.”

The effect that she had on children wasn’t just limited to her professional career. Often referred to as “Mama Sue” by the children of friends. Although she isn’t survived by any biological children, there are many “adoptive” children that she loved as her own.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association in Sue’s honor.

We thank GOD for sharing such a strong and beautiful heart that was Sue Gregory.

Please join the family of Sue Gregory in a Celebration of Life Ceremony Monday August 7, 2023 at the Presque Isle Pavilion, 3 Peter White Dr., Marquette, MI 49855 from 6PM – 8PM. A small prayer service will be held at 7:30 PM.
