MARQUETTE, MI – Kelleysue Ellen Munro, age 56, of Marquette, passed away Monday evening, August 14, 2023, at home, in the loving, comforting care of her family and caregivers of UP Home Health and Hospice.
Born October 12, 1966, in Detroit, a daughter of Richard and Gina (Sain) Munro, Kelleysue was raised primarily in Marquette and was a 1984 graduate of Marquette Senior High School. During her high school years, she was an amazing swimmer, setting several swimming records. She attended Northern Michigan University for a time, pursuing a degree in criminal justice. She later married and began raising her family. She was an amazing mother, and friend, to her two children, instilling values and work ethics she considered essential to their futures. Ambitious and extraordinarily generous with her time and talent, Kelleysue began a career in the restaurant-bar industry, working for many years as a bartender and restaurant manager at Lagniappe and later Hudson’s Classic Grill and Bar. Kelleysue always placed the needs of others before her own; the word no was not in her vocabulary. She loved to make others happy. In her leisure, she enjoyed swimming, reading, watching movies with her daughter, feeding the neighborhood wildlife, and spending time with family.
Survivors include her partner, Scott Tonn of Marquette; her daughter, Shelby (Tommy) Masich of Marquette; her step-son, Jeff (Amber) Diedrich; her mom, Gina (Paul Pfaffle) Johnson of Big Bay; father, Richard (Kandy) Munro; a brother, Jeff Munro; her sister, Marygrace Munro. She was preceded in death by her son, Erik Gravelle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family, or donations can be made in her honor to Cancer Care of Marquette County (cancercaremqt.com) or Cervivor (cervivor.org).
Friends may call at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Tuesday, August 29, beginning at 11:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 noon. Rev. Kevin Taylor will officiate.
