Julia (Mikulich) Ruuska
MARQUETTE – Julia (Mikulich) Ruuska, age 103, of Marquette, entered eternal life Sunday, July 30, 2023, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility.
Born June 26, 1920 in Trenary, a daughter of Frank and Mary (Krajec) Mikulich, Julia was born and raised on the family farm. She was a graduate of the Mathias Township School in Trenary. She later married, Samuel Ruuska, and the couple resided in Marquette where they were actively involved in square dancing. For over twelve years, Sam and Julia wintered in Arizona. Throughout the years, Julia was involved with volunteer work at Marquette General Hospital, the Headstart Program, a longtime supporter of Bay Cliff Health Camp and the Salvation Army, the Marquette Humane Society, American Heart Association, and the American Cancer Society. She was a former employee of Northern Michigan University. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and in her leisure enjoyed walking.
Survivors include her children, Daniel (Sue) Ruuska of Seattle, WA and Karen (Steve) Adams of Sussex, WI; her grandchildren, Sheri (John) Raunio, Nadine (Wesley) Zastrow, Terry Villers, Sarah Ruuska, and Laura Ruuska; great-grandsons, Nathan, Chandler, Chase, Camden, and Jamian; great-granddaughters, Lily and Danielle; great- great-grandsons, Kaleb, Nolan, and Kyson; her sisters, Elizabeth Weber and Helen Lee; a sister-in-law, Pauline and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Samuel, Julia was preceded in death by siblings, Mary, Frank, Angela, Albert, Kristina, and John and a granddaughter, Dorene.
Honoring Julia’s request, no services will be scheduled.
