Dominic (Mickey) Tassone
ISHPEMING, MI – Dominic (Mickey) Tassone, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023, after celebrating a fun-filled Italian Fest weekend with family and friends.
Mickey was born in Ishpeming on September 22, 1936, to the late Bruno and Marion (Sarvello) Tassone. He was a graduate of Ishpeming High School class of ’54, furthering his education at Northern Michigan University, where he received his Bachelor’s degree and later completed his Master’s Degree. He started teaching at the National Mine High School, then taught many years at the Negaunee High School, where he happily retired at the age of 55.
Mickey proudly served in the US Army as an MP in Berlin, Germany, for two years. Anyone who knew him knew his happiest moments were spent out in the woods hunting and fishing. He also raised championship beagles and was a long-standing member of the Ishpeming Beagle Club. Until the end Mickey cherished time with his family, most often centered around food.
He met the love of his life, Ann Marie Denofre, in February of 1958 and they were married in October 1958. They celebrated 64 years of marriage, not long enough for Mickey. Together they had three daughters, Angela, Lisa and Gina; 5 grandchildren, Sylvianna Baccarelli, Natalia (Chelsey) Baccarelli, Eliza (Tayler) Aiello, Julia and Griffin Hamer, and one great-grandson and namesake, Dominic Scheitel; sisters, Elizabeth “Betha” Farrell, Chettie (Jim) Simpson, brothers, Peter (Mary) Tassone, and Joseph (Dean) Tassone; sister-in-law, Alberta (Dennis) Tasson, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Marie, and daughter, Gina.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Ishpeming. Memorials may be directed to Gigi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Centers at gigisplayhouse.org (please choose the Deerfield location) in continued support of his great-grandson and best buddy, Dominic.
Rest Easy, Dad, Poppy, Pops, We love you. Salute!
