Daron E. Erickson

LAKE ORION, MI – Daron Edward Erickson, 37, of Lake Orion, MI, formerly of Granite Bluff, MI, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023.

Daron was born June 22, 1986, in Iron Mountain, MI, the son of Richard and Julie (Marjonen) Erickson. He graduated from Kingsford High School in 2005 where he was a three sport athlete and very proudly went on to further his education at Central Michigan University. Daron was employed by PNC Bank for over ten years, working his way up from teller to assistant branch manager to senior banker where he received many accolades. He was an avid Detroit sports fan and wholeheartedly believed each year was “the year” the Lions would “restore the roar” and win the Super Bowl. Daron enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and golfing. He was extremely proud of his Yooper upbringing and was known to be found wearing a crooked UP hat around a fire discussing why Upper Michigan, specifically Sporley Lake, was the best place on Earth. He was also an honorary member of the Luke family, where he loved to spend time at their hunting camp, getting to be “Uncle Daron” and joining them on seemingly every family trip.

Daron, “Darbear” as he was affectionately known by his family and close friends, had a magnetic energy and contagious joy. He was well known for his innate ability to make all feel welcome and find new friends everywhere he went. He loved to cook meals large enough to feed his entire Lake Orion family, a skill he learned from his dad. He loved his innumerable friends and family fiercely and was happiest when surrounded by them. His loss will be felt forever.

Daron is survived by his parents, Rich and Julie; his sister, Rachel Erickson of Asheville, NC; his grandmother, Sally Marjonen of Gwinn; his dog, Finn (Finny, Finnegan, the best boy); an aunt, Christine Aalto of Ft. Atkinson, WI; uncles, Jeff (Julie) Erickson of Marquette, Kurt Marjonen of Gwinn, and Terry (Jodi) Marjonen of Boise, ID; great-aunts, Jeanne (Gary) Soyring, Susan (Anthony) Kroncich and Betsy Brown; a great-uncle, Barry (Emily) Mussatto and many cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Arnold Marjonen, his paternal grandparents, Jerry and Joan Erickson, and his great-uncle, Ray Brown.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 5:00 pm on Thursday, August 24 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Pastor Chad Harrison will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
