Dale P. Erickson

GWINN, MI – Dale P. “Duke” Erickson, 67, of Gwinn, died Thursday evening, August 10, 2023, at his home, surrounded by family and under the care of UP Home Health & Hospice following an illness.

He was born September 25, 1955, in Ishpeming, a son of Paul and Gerrie (Bianchi) Erickson. He grew up in Princeton, was a 1974 graduate of Gwinn High School and a lifelong area resident.

Duke married Carol J. Roberts on September 13, 1975 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Gwinn.

He was employed for 40 years at CCI and had multiple jobs with the company until his retirement in 2015.

Duke was a member of the Forsyth Township Fire Department. Over the years, he played baseball, then softball and enjoyed camping and spending winters in Florida with his wife.

He is survived by four children, Jaime (Tobe) Lunsford, Chris Erickson, Joe Erickson and Rena Erickson, all of Gwinn; grandchildren, Tristan Mullins, Sophie Mullins, Jordan Hornung, Anthony Bodenus, Alliyah Erickson, Edward Erickson, Austin Larson, Jocelyn Erickson and Jack Lyke; great-grandchildren, Spencer and Oliver Bodenus; father, Paul Erickson of Gwinn; brothers, David (Frances) Erickson of Gwinn and Steven (Katherine) Erickson of Tempe, AZ; mother-in-law, Edna Roberts of Gwinn; brothers and sister-in-laws, Gary (Cindy) Roberts of Gwinn, Don (Bobby Brown) Roberts of Marquette, Ken (Tami) Roberts of Gwinn and Marlene (Mike) Griffore of Green Bay, WI and numerous nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother; wife, Carol; and father-in-law, Edward C. Roberts, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 3 pm until the time of a memorial service at 5 pm at Canale-Gwinn Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
