Rachael Marie Tillison
MARQUETTE, MI – Rachael Marie Tillison, age 36, of Marquette, passed away Monday, July 10, 2023, in the loving care of her family and UP Home Health and Hospice.
Born February 21, 1987 in Marquette, Michigan, a daughter of Marianne Evans and Jim Tillison, she is a 2005 graduate of Marquette Senior High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Michigan. Rachael was always led by her faith, finding a community of lifelong friends through the Harvest Mission Community Church in Ann Arbor. Rachael settled after college in Marquette where she created a lovely home, worked at Marquette Area Public Schools as an Assistant Accountant, and found great friends who shared her interests and hobbies. She was an avid reader, crocheter, gamer, TV enthusiast, speed puzzle completer, and always the first pick of any trivia team. Rachael loved being an aunt and often shared that she was able to see two more nieces and a nephew born since her cancer diagnosis, in addition to two other nephews. Through the two years of battling cancer of unknown primary, Rachael was always more concerned for her family and friends which exemplifies her general selflessness. Rachael enjoyed a more private life but with those who knew her well, she was witty and warm, gracious, and a little bit silly.
She joins her mom in Heaven, who she lost 15 years ago.
She is preceded by her grandfather; Don Tillison and survived by her father; Jim (Kenlyn Hubbard) Tillison, stepfather; John (Patrice) Evans, siblings; Grace (Evan) Simula, Sarah (Alex) Horton, Krista Evans, Jenny Evans, Charlie (Brenna) Hubbard, Ken (Jess) Hubbard, Michael (Emily Gilmer) Hubbard, nephews; Calvin, Theo, and Connor, nieces; Harley and Maya, grandparents; Mary Lou Tillison and Dan and Connie Mazzuchi, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins all who love her dearly.
A memorial service honoring Rachael’s life will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church on Saturday, July 15, at 10:00 am. The Rev. Dr. Andrew Plocher, pastor, will officiate. The family will greet guests at a visitation-reception in Magnuson Hall following the service.
