Janice Arleen Whitt (Johnson)

Janice was born December 14, 1942 in L’Anse, MI and grew up in the Upper Peninsula. She had a somewhat unconventional childhood, living at the Huron Mountain Club, where her father was employed. This experience informed her love of the outdoors. She attended nursing school in San Francisco, CA and began her nursing career in Marquette, MI. She moved to Eden Prairie, MN in 1987 to work for Medica Health Plans. She held a variety of positions over a long tenured career. During this time she also obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Metro State University.

Janice visited several countries including Brazil, Chile, Greece, Italy, New Zealand and Australia. In later years she continued her love of learning taking OLLI courses. She was an avid reader and enjoyed challenging puzzles and crosswords.

She played piano, and was an ardent fan of Josh Groban, attending 7 of his concerts over the years with her daughter, Jennifer. “You Raise Me Up” was played at her bedside as she transitioned into the arms of our Heavenly Father.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Orrin and Myrtis Johnson.

Survived by her children, David, Jennifer (Paul) and Robin (Matthew), their father, Ronald E. Whitt, numerous beloved relatives, and a close knit group of cherished friends (you know who you are!) She will be dearly missed by all.

The family thanks the staff at Hillcrest Firethorn and Jeff Chapin at Legacy Estates in Lincoln, NE for the care and compassion they showed Janice.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be directed to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
