Elizabeth ‘Betty Ann’ Hemmila
NEGAUNEE, MI – Elizabeth ‘Betty Ann’ Hemmila, 89, of Negaunee, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, April 3, 2023, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility.
Betty Ann was born August 18, 1933 in Negaunee, to John F. and Esther I. (Peterson) Chetto and attended Negaunee High School. She worked more than 22 years in the produce department for Russo Brothers Store in Negaunee.
Betty Ann was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Negaunee, the Negaunee Eagles Club and the Negaunee VFW Auxiliary. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, sewing and reading.
Surviving are her daughters, Julia Ann (Stephen Prankerd) Hemmila of Oahu, HI and Betsy Ann Cappoferri of Negaunee; son, William A. (Paula) Hemmila, Jr. of Negaunee Township; four grandchildren: Brittany and Chelsea Cappoferri, Joshua Hemmila, and Jodi (Tony) Hemmila-Fetterhoff; 3 great-grandchildren: Mya and Zander Hemmila, and Eden Hemmila-Fetterhoff and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William ‘Billy’ Hemmila, Sr.
Betty’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility for taking such good care of their mother during her confinement there.
Memorial services for Betty Ann and her daughter, Betsy will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 8th at Bethany Lutheran Church, Negaunee, with Michael Holman, LLM officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday, and also at a luncheon immediately following services in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Betty Ann’s memory to the Negaunee Senior Center or Bethany Lutheran Church.
