Carmela Louise Spelgatti

Carmela was born March 20, 1937 in Three Rivers, Michigan, to Romeo J. and Clara (Simone) Dragoni, and graduated from Three Rivers High School. She moved to Negaunee in 1957, and was a loving and devoted homemaker to her husband and children.

Mrs. Spelgatti was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee, as well as the Paisano Club of Marquette County. Carmela loved being around people; family, friends and strangers alike. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Above all, she loved being with her beloved grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughter, Theresa (Elmer) Rinehart of Negaunee; her son, Louis Spelgatti of Negaunee; and two grandchildren, Darin (Ashley) Rinehart of Oxford, IN, and their children Jossalyn Louise and Noa LeighAnn, and Karen (Charles) Deneen of Chandler, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Spelgatti in 2003; her son, Frankie R. ‘Guido’ Spelgatti; great-grandson, Garin Frank Rinehart; and a brother-in-law, Louis Spelgatti.

Visitation will be held at Koskey Funeral Home on Sunday, July 9th from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a rosary service beginning at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 10th at St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee, with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating. The family will also greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to Mass at the church on Monday, and at a luncheon immediately following services in the St. Paul School gymnasium. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery.
