Tae Cha (Kim) Garrow

Born October 14, 1946, to Myong Hui Kim and Son Buk Lee in Incheon, South Korea, Kim was raised in South Korea and completed her high school education there. While employed at the army mess hall in Seoul, South Korea, Kim met Jim Garrow. She relocated to Marquette, married Jim, and together the couple raised two daughters. Kim and Jim had 50+ years together. Kim had a strong work ethic and balanced her roles of wife, mother, and homemaker with the demands of her work. Locally, she was employed with a variety of restaurants, among them Sambos, the Coachlight, and Alexanders.

She also worked at Bunny Bread for a number of years. Kim owned and operated Szchuan, Three Happiness, and K’s Oriental restaurants for many years and never forgot anyone’s favorite food. Kim and Jim retired in 2005. Together, they enjoyed camping, going for rides, and winning at the casino. However, her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and following their activities. They were her pride and joy.

Kim is survived by her husband, Jim; daughters, Sonnie (Todd) Gobert and Jeanne (Dana) Langsford; her grandchildren, Cody (Jody) Langsford, Jessica Langsford, Karissa (Chris) Sliva, Jonas (Amanda Anderson) Christensen, and Leah Gobert; great-grandchildren, Remi Langsford and Kimberly Sliva; her in-laws, Len (Charlotte) Garrow, Sam (Robin) Garrow, and Bob (Pam) Garrow.

Kim was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, and her sister.

The family would like to thank Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice, Roma Meyskens, Janene and Larry Langsford; also Bruce and Joan Gauthier, Bill and Rita Short, Bud and Sue Jackson, and the rest of the Northwoods neighborhood for their many kindnesses to Kim and to the family.

Private family graveside services were held at Northland Chapel Gardens.
