Stanley D. Kallioinen

Stanley was born May 11, 1942 in Palmer to John A. and J. Dagmar (Larson) Kallioinen, graduated from Negaunee High School, and was a lifelong area resident. After school, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his service to his country he began his career with Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. at the Empire Mine, working various positions over his 30 plus years with the Company.

Mr. Kallioinen was a member of Community Lutheran Church, Suomi, was a life member of the Richmond Township Community Club, and was also a member of VA Romo Post #3165, Negaunee VFW.

Stan played in several local bands, and loved playing the guitar, singing, and yodeling. He was very active in his health, being an avid runner who completed many marathons, and continued to run into his 70s. He was also an avid NASCAR and Green Bay Packers Fan. Stan and his wife, Nancy enjoyed traveling in their younger years, and taking an occasional trip to the casino.

Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Nancy (Leiviska) Kallioinen; his son, Bob (Marie) Dobbs, of Negaunee Township; his daughter, Sue (Ken) St. Aubin of Richmond Township; two grandsons, Jeremy (Sarah) and Alex (Ashley) Dobbs; four great-grandchildren: Ada, Hazel, Eden and Leon; his sister, Marjorie Bantle; his honorary son-in-law, Daryl St. Aubin; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a special niece, Kathy Walters; and his granddog, Josie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald Dobbs; his brothers; Leslie and Kenneth Kallioinen, as well as an infant brother; and his sisters, Helen Kallioinen and Katherine Rudis.

Stan’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, for their loving and compassionate care.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Monday, June 26th at Koskey Funeral Home in Negaunee. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Stan’s memory to UPAWS.
