Ronald D. Lemire

MARQUETTE, MI – Ronald D. Lemire, 87, of Marquette, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Michigan Veterans Home, D.J. Jacobetti in Marquette.

Ron was born on December, 31, 1935 in Marquette, a son of the late Henry J. and Blanche (Davis) Lemire and was a lifelong Marquette resident.

On May 7, 1953, Ron enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged on May 6, 1957. After his military service, Ron worked at the former Cully’s Gas Station, WLUC TV 6 where he played Santa for 15 years. He was employed at People’s Bank and Detroit and Northern Bank in their maintenance department for many years. He worked well into his 80’s.

In his spare time, Ron enjoyed going to the casino, playing a good game of cribbage, and following the Detroit Red Wings and Tigers. He was very proud to have participated in one of the Honor Flights. He had a beautiful smile with a great sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by four children, James (Belinda) Lemire of Genesee, MI, Lynn Lemire of Atwater, CA, Janine (Gerald) Carpenter of Modesto, CA, and Scott Lemire of Taylorsville, UT, six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia (Donald St. Germain) Trenary of Gladstone, MI and Marsha (Dale) Howell of Waukesha, WI, two brothers, Bruce Lemire of San Antonio, TX and Keith (Marilyn Warren) Lemire of Skandia, MI; sisters-in-law, Sandra Lemire of Santa Cruz, CA and Lois Barnes of Colorado, also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Preceding Ron in death besides his parents was a step-mother, Margaret Lemire, step-father, George Trenary; daughter, Barbara McNece, grandson, Michael Dale Jones; two brothers, Allen Lemire, Sr. and William Lemire, sisters-in-law, Marjorie Lemire and Nancy Lemire.

A graveside service consisting of full military honors will be held in the Park Cemetery on Friday, June 23rd at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Michigan Veterans Home D.J. Jacobetti Life Enrichment Fund, 425 Fisher St., Marquette, MI 49855 in Mr. Lemire’s memory.

Ron’s family would like to thank all of the caregivers at Jacobetti and would also like to extend a special thank you to Kelly Barosko for all of her visits and love.
