Norman Duane Korte

He was born on December 8, 1937, in Negaunee, MI, to the late Arthur and Nellie (Augustson) Korte. Norman graduated from Negaunee High School class of 1955. He served his country honorably in the US Air Force as a Flight Surgeon Assistant. Norman worked construction and the White Pine Copper Mine until Forest Technician Training in 1965. He became a Forest Fire Officer with the Michigan DNR from 1966 until his retirement in 1993. Norman married the former Carol Wojnaroski on August 12, 1972. She preceded him in death on July 30, 2009. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling and camping with the Motorhome. Winters in Texas with stops along the way.

Norman is survived by two daughters, Bonita (Jerry) Higgins and Leilani (Jeff) Strohl, two sons, F. Charles (Denise) Payment and Steven (Jolene) Payment, 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great- grandchildren, one sister, Lauren (Cathy) Korte, his sister-in-law, Laura Korte, two nieces, Lisa (Clark) Hosie and Diana Waters and other family and especially his very close friends.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Carol, Norman was preceded in death by his stepson, David Payment, his brother, Leon Korte and his grandson, Nathan Duane Erickson.

As per Norman’s wishes, no services will be held.

Burial will be in Mellen Township Cemetery in Wallace, MI.
