MARQUETTE, MI – Karen Ruth Marceau, age 79, longtime Marquette resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility with her family by her side.
Karen was born in Marquette, Michigan on June 22, 1943, a daughter of the late Elmer R. and Elizabeth A. (Butler) Dagenais. She graduated from Bishop Baraga High School, Class of 1961.
Karen retired as an Inventory Manager at Marquette Board Light and Power in 2000.
Karen enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family, going to camp on Noreen Lake, planting flowers and tomatoes, traveling to Florida and Yuma, Arizona, visiting different casinos, and knitting dish cloths.
Karen is survived by two daughters, Joelene (Tom) Farley, and Jayne (Mike) Mattias; 4 grandchildren, Eric Farley, Lauren (Connor) Mason, Mady Mattias, and Jack Mattias; 4 sisters, Barbara Erickson, Sandie (Dan) LaBelle, Debbie (Tom) Trotochaud, and Mary LeMaire; 2 brothers, Bob Dagenais, and Tom (Janet Cobb) Dagenais, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Keith, and infant brother, Mark.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming, with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 pm with Father Christian Flagstadt officiating.
A luncheon will follow at K/D Hall at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ishpeming.
