John W. Kelley
MUNISING, MI – John. W. Kelley, 71, of Munising, formerly of Marquette, died Monday, May 15, 2023 at his home in Munising.
John was born on October 30, 1951 in Marquette, one of five children born to the late William and Mary (Aird) Kelley. He was a member of the last graduating class of Bishop Baraga High School in 1969.
John held various employment capacities over the years including sailing on Great Lakes ore freighters, working for the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company as an iron miner, Vollwerth’s Meat Packing Plant in Marquette and lastly for Rhinehart Food Service out of their Marquette location.
John was a huge fan of Detroit sports including the Tigers, Lions and Redwings. Spending time with family members was very important to John and he always looked forward to hearing from them.
Survivors include one son, Michael Kelly of Minneapolis, MN; a sister, Kathy (Philip) Brooks of Crystal Falls, MI; also several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Jeffrey Kelley.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were three brothers, Jeffrey Kelley, Joseph Kelley and James Kelley, Sr.
A graveside service will be held in the Holy Cross Cemetery on Friday, June 30th at 2 p.m. with Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating.
