Born September 19, 1925, in Bessemer, the daughter of Alfred J. and Unita Pearl (Bunt) Chubb, Frances was raised in Marquette where she graduated from Graveraet High School in 1943. In 1961, Frances returned to the classroom, this time as a home economics teacher in the Gwinn School System. In her leisure, Frances enjoyed knitting, crafting, weaving, sewing, singing in the church choir, Bible studies, traveling, and going out for coffee and pie with her teaching friends. Her favorite place was going to Presque Isle to watch the ore boats come in. However, it was family that brought her the greatest pleasure and fulfillment. Frances was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for almost 80 years, and the last living charter member of Nefretete Temple #110 Daughters of the Nile.
