NEGAUNEE / REPUBLIC, MI – Clifford Robert Kahl, 73, Negaunee and Republic Township resident, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Woodside Manor in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin.
Clifford was born August 30, 1949, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Charles and Lois (McKillop) Kahl and graduated from River Falls High School. He was united in marriage to the late Susan Jacobs who tragically died in a car accident at age 19, a short time after they were married. Clifford earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture and later a Master’s Degree in Teaching from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. He was employed by Michigan State University as a County Extension Director for Dickinson County, working together with farmers in the area for over 25 years.
Clifford enjoyed spending time at his camp on Witch Lake, watching Fred and Ethel, the 2 Canadian Geese that would return every summer and having camping excursions in his motorhome all with his Bun-O, Paula.
Surviving are his two sons, Nicholas (Alison) Kahl of Green Bay, Dirk Kahl of Stevens Point, and his very special grandson, Caden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Patricia Quist; his first wife, Susan Jacobs Kahl; and his companion of many years, Paula Sylvestre.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 24th from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Koskey Funeral Home, Negaunee, with a reception to immdediately follow at Smarty’s Saloon, 212 Iron St., Negaunee. Clifford will be laid to rest next to his late wife, Susan, at St. Bridget’s Cemetery in River Falls, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Clifford’s memory to the Dickinson County 4-H.
Mr. Kahl’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to Julie Christesen for her care, love and support over the years as well as the Staff at Woodside Manor for making Clifford feel at home during his stay.
