Mary Colleen Ogle

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Mary Colleen Ogle passed away on May 1st, 2023, after a week in hospice care.

Mary was born in Marquette on September 6th, 1963, to James Raymond Ogle and Pamela Stafford Ogle, the youngest of six children. Mary was raised in Marquette, and graduated from Marquette High School in 1981. After graduation, Mary moved to the Grand Rapids Area and completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Western Michigan University.

Mary met Richard (Richie) Manguse in Grand Rapids, and married in a Leap Year wedding on February 29th, 1996.

In addition to Rich, Mary is survived by their three children: James (Jake) Stafford Manguse, Samuel Addison Manguse, and Molly Kay Manguse, all living in the Grand Rapids area.

Mary was a very engaged mother in raising their children, creating adventures for her kids by making the most mundane task entertaining. Throughout her life Mary worked with various television and radio outlets in Grand Rapids, ending her career at Channel 13, Grand Rapids. Mary will be well-remembered for her wonderful laugh and irreverent wit. She belonged to the One Gallon Club for blood donations she made over the years, and spent many hours volunteering with Michigan Veterans Hospitals.

An extrovert, Mary was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. She continued the Ogle family sport of log rolling by first teaching her children, and then as a volunteer instructor at the local YMCA. Mary harbored a strong interest in the world around her and was ready to pack up and travel anywhere, anytime.

Mary is also survived by her siblings: Barbara Ogle (Scott Wemmer); Karen Ogle (Hugh Marcy), Larry Ogle, and Patrick Ogle. As the youngest of 28 grandchildren on the Ogle side, and 21 on the Stafford side, Mary is survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceding Mary in death were her parents, and brother Marc Edward Ogle. The family would like to thank both Hospice and Mary’s childhood friend, Chrissy Cleary, for making Mary’s last days more comfortable.

A memorial service will take place later in the year.
