MARQUETTE, MI – Carole Christine Thomson-Suksi, age 82, of Marquette, entered eternal life Tuesday, April 25th, 2023, at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living Facility in the loving, comforting care of her family.
Born December 28th, 1940, in Stambaugh, a daughter of Willard and Erma (Rizzardi) Anderson, Carole was raised in Stambaugh. She graduated from Stambaugh High School, Class of 1958, and continued her education at Michigan State University where she received her teaching degree in 1962. Her teaching career began in Miami, Florida with subsequent teaching assignments in Flint and Milwaukee before relocating to Marquette. In Marquette, Carole taught for a few years at the Graveraet Middle School with the balance of her teaching career at Bothwell Middle School. Throughout the years, Carole was a popular and influential teacher, recognized by students and peers for her teaching abilities. She educated with the desire of preparing her students for productive futures while instilling in them basic values that would assist them during their lifetime. For this, she received many accolades and honors during her 33 year career. She never forgot a student's name and years later her own children were being asked by former students how Carole was doing. When Carole retired from teaching in 1995, she began a second career as a nail stylist. However, it was family that brought Carole the greatest fulfillment. She loved following the activities of her children, and especially the grandchildren, in their school and sporting events. Carole was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting, gardening, traveling, and antiques.
Carole is survived by her husband, Jim Suksi of Marquette; her sons, Chris (Michelle) Thomson of Iron River and Patrick (Becky McIntyre) Thomson of Negaunee; her five grandchildren, Riley, Noah, Nathan, Josephine, and James Thomson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Sally.
Friends may call at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Tuesday, May 2nd, beginning at 1:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 pm. Rev. Greg Heikkala will officiate. A reception will follow at the American Legion.
Interment will be made in the Park Cemetery.
