Jana Linne Gohl

Jana was born March 31st, 1965, in Mount Clemens, MI to the late Harry and Ruth Gohl. Jana was the 5th of 6 children, she loved and was loved by all her siblings she’s left behind; Larry (late, Renate “Ushi”) Gohl, Jeffrey (Susan) Gohl, Donna Gohl, Amy (Richard) Ross and Daniel (Tina) Gohl. Jana moved to the Chatham area with her mother in 1980 and graduated from the Eben High School in 1984. Shortly thereafter, she married the late Robert Niemi and they were blessed with 3 boys; Charles Niemi (Casie Hough) of Manistique, MI, Craig Niemi of Green Bay, WI and Daniel Niemi of Munich, Germany. Jana later met and married, Daren Salmi. They were blessed with 1 son; Kole Salmi (Megan McLaury) of Chatham, MI.

Jana had a fantastic memory, sometimes selective, and which was bound to elicit a series of stories for anyone who was willing listening. She remembered everyone’s birthday and keyed in all the details her sister Donna couldn’t remember. While many did not agree with all her opinions, no one can deny she was unafraid of speaking up on what she believed in. She leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family who were always entertained by her stories and hilarious sense of humor, sometimes that of her own doing, but nevertheless a fair sport. She truly brought the life to the party. A great number of people will remember Jana by the 20+ years of pasties she so often made and the holiday baskets she took pride in making full of homemade cookies and salsa.

Her heart of this world may have failed but her spirit was stubbornly strong.

Jana leaves behind her only surviving aunt; Bertha Nix, nieces; April (Adam) Nordness, Amelia Gohl and Noel Pendell, nephews; Erik (Kimberly) Gohl, Simon Gohl, Andrew Gohl, Mario Gohl, Taylor (Amanda) Gohl, Dustin (Christine) Gohl and Nicholas Gohl, and numerous cousins and extended family members. Jana was very excited to become a grandmother to Charlie and Casie’s baby girl who is due next month.
