Julie Thompson

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI – Julie Ann Thompson, 61, of Negaunee Township, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, January 24th, 2023, at Eastwood Nursing Center following a lengthy illness.

Julie was born March 10th, 1961, in Clearfield, PA, to Robert Thompson and Jenny Ruehle. Julie was a lifelong learner who following high school earned her Bachelor’s degree in social work from Northern Michigan University, and had started work on her Master’s degree. She also had many certifications and taught and interpreted English abroad for a number of years, and also worked locally as a substitute teacher for the past several years.

Julie Ann enjoyed picking fresh berries and more in her yard, which she called ‘her kingdom.’ She was an avid outdoors woman who enjoyed kayaking and camping. Julie loved traveling, which she did extensively. Above all, she loved spending time with her beloved family.

Surviving are her mother; her longtime companion, Duane Rivers of Negaunee Township; a son, James Clark-Humphrys of Negaunee Township; three grandchildren: Jaysa Bodenhorn, Eli LaJoice and Ellie Clark-Humphrys; and her siblings: Terry, Tom, Jeff, Jodi and Jennifer.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Honoring Julie’s wishes, no public services will be held.
