Brigitte LeMay

MENOMINEE, MI – Brigitte “Gitte” LeMay, 79 of Menominee, Mich. passed away on December 1st, 2022, at Aurora Medical Center in Marinette, surrounded with the love of her children.

Brigitte was born on October 11th, 1943, in Wiltz, Luxembourg (Europe), to Michel and Catherine (Balthasar) May. On December 29th, 1962, she married William (Bill) LeMay in Menominee, Mich. Brigitte immigrated to the United States at the age of 9 and resided in Chicago, Ill. After her and Bill’s unity in marriage, they moved back to her hometown, Wiltz, Luxembourg for a short time. In 1967, they returned to the U.S. and made their home in Negaunee, Mich., for 30 years as they raised their three beautiful children. In 1997, they returned to Bill’s hometown of Menominee, Mich., to retire.

Brigitte spent many years working as a professional cook in the Negaunee and Marquette area, as well as, working as a cashier at Super One Foods for just over a decade. She loved socializing with her customers and always enjoyed the company of her coworkers.

She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and yard in the summer months, always creating a beautiful scene for all to admire. Brigitte enjoyed cooking and baking European dishes for her family and tastefully decorating her home, Brigitte always finely-tuned the perfect Christmas tree for her family to enjoy during the holidays. She also adored caring for her cats and dogs throughout her life. Traveling home to Luxembourg, spending winter months in Florida, and visiting Maine with family are all things she loved. Above all else, loving and caring for her children and grandchildren is what she loved the most.

Brigitte is survived by three children: Michael of Marquette, Mich., Marie (Jarrod) Molise of Marquette, Mich., and Christine (Timothy) Corgan of Marinette, Wis., five grandchildren; Sarah (Marco) Guidotti, Melissa LaJoie, John Molise, William Corgan, Ryan Corgan, two great-grandchildren; Dane and Kai Guidotti, sister; Jean Smart of Chicago, Ill., along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Michel and Catherine, husband; Bill and two brothers; Nick and John.

Brigitte’s family would like to thank the nurses, nursing assistants, and doctors at Aurora Medical Center, and Unity Hospice for all of their wonderful care and support.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Cadieu Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
