Brenda D. Cornock

MARQUETTE, MI – Brenda D. Cornock, age 83, entered eternal life Saturday, October 1st, 2022, at her home, in the loving care of her family.

Brenda was born May 5th, 1939, in Petrolia, Ontario, to Robert and Beatrice (Campbell) Byers and was raised in Ontario, Canada. Following graduation from high school, Brenda moved to Detroit where she met Warren “Bud” Cornock. The couple married on May 26th, 1962 and established a home and began raising their family. She started a career with Michigan Bell and later Ameritech Phone Company. When hired by the phone company, Brenda was told without a degree her advancement in the company would be limited. A woman ahead of her time, and through hard work and determination, she received many promotions over the years and climbed the corporate ladder to a top sales position before her retirement.

In her spare time Brenda and her husband loved spending the summers at their cottage on Lake Huron in Ontario, traveling and antiquing. She loved music and enjoyed singing around the campfire at camp. A true lover of nature she loved all the seasons and the activities each season had to offer. She especially enjoyed downhill skiing and never missed an opportunity to build a snowman. Brenda also loved to accessorize with her scarves and was never seen without one. Her family was the true pride and joy of her life. She cherished all the time spent watching her children’s and grandchildren’s events over the years. In retirement, when she moved to Marquette, she became an avid NMU hockey fan.

Survivors include her four children, Melvin (Katie) Clifford of Campbellsville, KY, Bruce (Nancy) Cornock of Corydon, IN, KY, Rob (Laura) Cornock of Riverview, FL and Jeff (Pam) Cornock of Marquette; seven grandchildren, Jaime Glass, Eric Glass, Cameron, Shawn, Sydney, Delaney, and Carson Cornock; and two great-grandchildren; her sister, Sharrone (Dennis) Peters; a sister-in-law, Marty Taylor; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren “Bud” Cornock and a grandson, Jeremy Glass.
