Bonnie Lee Chard
MARQUETTE, MI – Bonnie Lee Chard, age 70, of 1675 Mill Creek Circle, Marquette and longtime Ishpeming resident, entered eternal life Sunday, September 25th, 2022, at UP Health System – Marquette.
Bonnie was born March 18th, 1952, in Ishpeming, MI, a daughter of Marvin and Janet “Dolly” (Voegtline) Blight. She was a 1970 graduate of Ishpeming High School.
Bonnie worked at Bell Memorial Hospital for 38 years, retiring in 2010. She started as a nurse’s aide and ended her career in the IT department. Bonnie was an avid Chicago Cubs and Denver Broncos fan. She loved golfing and was a member for many years at the Wawonowin Country Club. She was also involved in the Lady ELKs at the Ishpeming ELKs Lodge. Bonnie spent may years in the Blue Notes. Her hobbies included reading and knitting, donating to the Cheer Club every year. Also, she loved going to Las Vegas with her husband Robert for 17 years watching many pro golf tournaments.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; Marvin and Janet Blight, sister-in-law; Audrey (Hendra) Blight.
Bonnie is survived by her husband of 47 years; Robert Chard, brother; Bradley (Lynn Potila) Blight of Negaunee, brother-in-law; Clyde P. Chard of Grand Blanc, MI, two nieces; Kristen Bratsch of Flushing, MI and Erica Chard of Tucson, AZ, two nephews; Todd (Lori) Blight of Sturgeon Bay, WI, and Cory (Wendy) Blight of Marquette.
Bonnie’s wishes were to be cremated and a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Bob wants to thank Dr. Amanda Benson and her nurses who took great care of Bonnie in room 453 in ICU. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Joseph Steele who did everything he could for Bonnie. She admired him very much having him with all her visits to the hospital in the past.
