Carol Jean Lundquist

MARQUETTE, MI – Carol Jean Lundquist, age 76, of Marquette, entered eternal life Sunday, May 22nd, at home, in the loving, comforting care of her family, with help and comfort of Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.

Carol was born August 29th, 1945, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Mary (Sarka) and Harold Heiser. Her family returned to Marquette, when the war ended. She attended the Marquette Area Public Schools, graduating from Graveraet High School in 1963 and the St. Luke’s School of Nursing in August of 1967. She began her nursing career at St. Luke’s Hospital and continued her education at Northern Michigan University earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 1980. After nearly 20 years of nursing, Carol joined her husband in business, at the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home. Together they owned and operated the funeral home until retirement in 2006.

Carol and her husband David raised three children: Lisa, Lauri, and Andrew. And she enjoyed her grandchildren: Adam, Lauren, Ella, Amelia and Austin.

Carol was a dog lover, enjoyed sewing, quilting, and reading, traveling and also played golf.

Carol was active in Zonta, with Federated Women’s Club where she served as a founding member of Beacon House, and both the Messiah Lutheran Church in Marquette and the Church of the Living Waters in North Port, Florida.

Carol and David split their time between two residences after retirement, choosing to enjoy Marquette in Spring, Summer, and Fall, and enjoying Florida in the Winter.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years David, daughters: Lisa (Jay) Kulbertis, Lauri, and son, Andrew (Ashley); grandchildren Adam (Erin) and Lauren Kulbertis, Ella and Amelia Lundquist and Austin Knuth; great- grandchildren: Ila and Isabella Kulbertis. She is also survived by her sister, Sandy Heiser Pelto and brother-in-law, James Nebel.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Nebel.

She will be missed by all that knew her.

Friends may call at the Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Saturday, July 16th, beginning at 11:00 am, until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Interment will be made in the Park Cemetery.
