Guinevere St. Aubin

GWINN, MI – Guinevere (Gwen) Corraine (St. Vincent) St. Aubin, 89, passed this life into eternal life on Saturday morning, May 7th, 2022.

Born in Wells, Michigan, to Caroline (Cota) St. Vincent and Wilfred St. Vincent, she was the youngest of 13 children, 4 sisters and 8 brothers. Gwen was born and raised in Arnold, MI and attended school in Arnold and Gwinn. Ms. St. Aubin was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Gwinn.

Growing up during the Great Depression, she helped work her family’s homestead and eventually left high school to pick potatoes in order to help support her family. Gwen attended night school and earned her high school diploma in 1970, alongside her eldest son, Bobby. She spent her working career as a cashier at Frank’s Supermarket in Gwinn for 32 years. She then went on to spend 15 years as a cook for the pilots at the Strategic Air Command alert facility of K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base and upon their disestablishment, the Airmen’s ‘chow’ hall until the base finally closed in 1995. She felt immense pride at being able to serve those who were in turn serving our country. During the end of her career Gwen also served as a home health care provider for a few elderly members of the Gwinn community along with her daughter, Marla.

Among their most fond memories of their mother, her children recall hearing of the wonderful times she spent with her siblings during her youth, beautiful flower garden beds and an abundant vegetable garden at their family home in Gwinn. Gwen also enjoyed embroidery and cross stitch, reading, crosswords and word games, and putting together puzzles with her sons, Alan and Bobby.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Nannette) St. Aubin, Marla (Jerry) Jensen, Alan (Peggy) St. Aubin, all of Gwinn, Carol St. Aubin of Cambridge, WI; and her brother, Wayne (Bonnie) St. Vincent of Gladstone.

She was preceded in death by her son, Larry St. Aubin. She was also the loving grandmother of Christopher (Jenny) St. Aubin, Heather Jensen, Brian (Cassie) St. Aubin, Casey (Mike) Arkens, Chad (Jen) Jensen, Jenny (Brad) Bertocchi, Allyson (John) Bowles, Keefer St. Aubin, Brenna Durand, Keenan St. Aubin, Samantha Katch and Mackenzie Katch; and great-grandchildren, Mataya, Cassidy, Chase, Carter, Cameron, Max, Sophie and Cleveland.

As per her wishes, Gwen’s remains will be cremated and there will be no formal funeral services. A private family burial is planned for a later date.

Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are kindly asked to make a donation in her memory to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital.

She instilled in her children a solid foundation of working hard, appreciating everything, and loving each other. She will be forever in our hearts.
