Terry LaForest

Terry was born November 17th, 1945, in Negaunee, to Albert and Loretta (Garceau) LaForest, Sr. and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1965. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army in Vietnam, being honorably discharged after serving two years. Terry was united in marriage to Janet Hutander, on January 30th, 1982, in Negaunee.

Terry was employed with Iron Workers Union #8, having worked on jobs such as the renovation of Lambeau Field and the construction of Miller Park. In his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors, walking with his dog and gun, pontooning on the Dead River Basin, and watching western movies. Most importantly, Terry loved spending time with his family and beloved grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Janet LaForest; daughter, Kimberlee (Ryan) Gerndt of Sobieski, WI; son, Brad (Sarah) LaForest of Oklahoma City, OK; four grandchildren: Gavin and Payslee Gerndt, and Parker and Evelyn LaForest; his brother, Ronald (Lenore) LaForest of St. Augustine, FL; special niece, Linda (Jim) Larson of Negaunee; his beloved dog, Bella and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elizabeth ‘Bette’ (Wilfred ‘Butch’) Bond; and two brothers: John ‘Jack’ and Albert (Margaret) LaForest, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, on Monday, April 25th, at Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. D. Michael Carriere officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 pm at the funeral home on Monday. A luncheon reception will immediately follow at the Negaunee Elks Lodge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Terry’s memory to Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 380, 173 Hwy US-41, Negaunee, MI 49866.
