Jeannette York

CHINO VALLEY, AZ – Jeannette York, 58, of Chino Valley, Arizona, passed away peacefully on January 21st, surrounded by her family after battling cancer courageously for over 22 years.

Jeannette loved life and she was the most courageous and strongest person we knew. She gave everything her all and fought all the way to the end. Jeannette leaves behind a legacy to live every day to the fullest, laugh as much as you can and always lead with your heart!

Jeannette was born on June 18th, 1963, in Marquette to her parents, William and Ruth (Easley) York. In addition to her husband, Steve Swaim, Jeannette is survived by her three sisters: Charlene (George), Darlene Phelps (Ken), Michelle, and her five brothers: David (Elizabeth), Michael (Carol), Daniel, Robert and Douglas (Dena), along with nieces and nephews.

Jeannette was a 1981 graduate of Marquette Senior High School and the University of Phoenix. She was employed as the Human Resources Manager for the Western News & Info Inc. in Prescott Valley, AZ.

Although Jeannette did not leave behind children, her Afghan Hounds, were her “children”, that she loved with a passion. She successfully raised two liters of Afghan Hounds to championship level including several grand champions. Jeannette had shown her dogs nationally and internationally. She was active in two Arizona Afghan Hound clubs. Those members were her second family and they were there in her hour of need. We are grateful for them.

Per Jeannette’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service. For anyone who would like to honor our beautiful daughter/sister/friend, we ask for donations be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society – Jeannette’s Family.
