Birtie Mae “Susie” Davis

MARQUETTE, MI – Birtie Mae “Susie” Davis, passed away on February 11th, 2022, while in the care of the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, where she resided for the past several years.

Susie was born February 23rd, 1937, in a logging camp on the banks of the Whitefish River in Alger County, Michigan, the daughter of Betty and James Letts. She married, Robert Davis, in 1958, with whom she had four children: Daniel (Janice) Davis, Diane Davis, Edward Davis, and Bradley Davis.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Robert, her mother; Betty Lambert, and stepfather; William C. Lambert, her father; James Letts, her son; Bradley Davis. Also preceding her in death, were siblings; Patsy (William “Bula”) Hill, Judith Morrison, James H. Letts, William Jay “John” and wife; Barbara Bolduc Letts.

Surviving are her three children; Daniel, Diane and Edward and one sister; Amy Ennis. Also surviving are grandchildren; Christopher Pabst, Stephanie Pabst and Danielle Davis of Marquette, Jesse Davis of Wisconsin, Alexandria Davis of Laurium, Heather Steele of Tennessee, and John Davis of Texas.

Susie’s early days were spent in the family’s logging camps in Marquette and Alger Counties. She attended schools in Deerton, Big Bay, and Marquette, graduating from Graveraet High School in 1956. She was known as a fine homemaker and cook. Following her husband’s death in 1986, she began work in the bakery and later the deli at Super One Foods, where she continued until her retirement.

Friends may call at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Wednesday, February 16th, beginning at 11:00 am, until the time of service at 12:00 noon. A reception will follow in the funeral home reception room. Interment will be made in Northland Chapel Gardens.
