AUTRAIN / MUNISING, MI – Marjorie D. Maxon, age 85, of AuTrain and formerly of Munising, died Tuesday, December 21st, 2021, at Medilodge of Munising.
She was born in Ishpeming, Michigan, to Arthur and Frances (Mosca) Beatty. Margie graduated from Munising High School, in 1955. She married, Roy L. Maxon, on July 16th, 1955 and together they raised their four children. Margie was a homemaker while the kids were growing up. The family owned and operated The Waterfront Restaurant, in Munising, from 1983 until 1995. It truly was a family operation. After retirement, their favorite pastime was spending time with the grandchildren. Margie and Roy enjoyed dancing together, gardening huge vegetable gardens, and maintaining beautiful flower gardens. They were also willing to help out with their “grand pets.”
Roy preceded her death after fifty-three years of marriage, on January 5th, 2009. Marge still enjoyed being with her family, but Roy’s death left her with a broken heart throughout the rest of her life.
She is survived by her children – Kathy (Paul) Baij of Munising, Babette (Amy Penoyar) Maxon of AuTrain, Roy Maxon of Deerton, Marc (Angela) Maxon of Munising; nine grandchildren – Zach, Molly, Anna, Kyle, Austin, Trevor, Kris, Nick, and Tim; great- grandchildren – Leo, Jaina, Kahlan, Quinn, Ezra, Silas, Mya, Sadie Lou, and Charlotte; siblings – Shirley Cluley of AuTrain, Rita (Rich) Sinervo of Florida, and Barbara Boyd of Antigo, WI, Larry “Chuck” (Hilda) Beatty of Alabama, Michael “Mick” (Caroline) Beatty of Illinois, and Ron (Alice) Mager of Munising and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, husband – Roy, grandson – Andrew Maxon, and brothers – Joe Beatty and Donald “Guy Guy” Mager.
