David Charles Pitz
David Charles Pitz
MARQUETTE, MI / MYRTLE BEACH, SC – January 18, 1953 – December 18, 2021. After a courageous fight, David Charles Pitz, finally triumphed over a long battle with cancer on December 18th and is now free of pain and suffering. Throughout his entire life, Dave was adventurous, animated, fun and always brought life, humor, and joy to those who knew him.
Raised in Kaukauna, Wisconsin and spending much of his life in Marquette, Michigan, Dave enjoyed all the beauty and nature the Upper Peninsula offered, with every possible free moment spent outdoors hunting, hiking, fishing, camping or simply relaxing over lively conversation on the back deck.
He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, never missing a game. Known for his masterful cooking and grilling skills, Dave would always spice up something special for every meal. Campfires were always warmer, beer was icier, fishing stories were bigger, and gatherings were far more fun with Dave around.
As a husband, father, brother, uncle, grandpa, friend and hunting or fishing buddy, Dave was always a positive influence and spirited excitement to the party, even to those he’d just met. Known for hard work and loyalty, Dave spent his professional career in several fields, most notably Jilbert Dairy and JRJ Food Equipment, where he excelled at working with customers and coworkers with great dedication. The most important times of life were always cherished with his wife, Sharon, traveling and visiting with family throughout the country.
Dave is survived by his biggest supporter and caring champion, Sharon (Vogelsang), whom he married on January 25th, 2001; his daughter, Molly (Brent) Phillips, of Clermont, FL; son, Shaun Pitz of Marquette, MI; stepsons, Justin (Jenny) Urbanski and Ryan Urbanski of Marquette, MI; grandchildren, Luke David, Ava, Madelyn, and Morgan; sisters, Sally (Paul) McCaughey of Brookfield, WI; Pam (Ron) Lax of Conover, WI; and brothers Jim (Amy) Pitz of Appleton, WI and Joe (Jean) Pitz of Shreveport, LA.
Dave is preceded by and now reunited with his parents, Joseph L. and Ruth E. Pitz, and dearly missed sister, Mary (Jim) Moran of Pebble Beach, CA and several other relatives and friends.
Our sorrow for his loss is helped by knowing they are enjoying being together again.
A celebration of life memorial will be held during Dave’s favorite time of the year in Marquette, this summer, at a time and location to be announced.
