Phyllis Jean Aho

MARQUETTE, MI – Phyllis Jean Aho, age 86, of Marquette, entered eternal life Friday, October 15th, 2021, at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living, in the loving, comforting care of her family.

Born January 3rd, 1935, in Munising, a daughter of Edward and Eva (Bonner) Perry, Phyllis was raised in Munising and attended the local schools. On September 7th, 1957, Phyllis was united in marriage to Arnold (Arnie) Aho. Together the couple established a home in Marquette where they raised their family. Phyllis’s family was everything to her and she relished her roles of wife, mother, and homemaker. Eventually, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were added to the family circle and life became even sweeter. In her younger years, Phyllis served as a softball pitcher on the Cal’s Party Store team. She loved spending time at the family camp on Stella Lake, walking, softball, playing Bingo, bowling, and she had a lifelong love of traveling with both Arnie and family.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 64 years, Arnold (Arnie); her four children, William (Cathy) Aho of Sun City, CA, Michael (Betsy) Aho of North Kingstown, RI, Donna (Darren) Dupras and Debbie (Daryl) Jarvinen both of Marquette; eight grandchildren, Andy (Ally) Lancour of Marquette, Amanda (Aaron) Adriano of Ishpeming, Lauren (Derek) Rodgers of Rialto, CA, Brandon (Skye Saari) Jarvinen of Ishpeming, and Ashley (Michael) Bassett, Ryan Butler, Devin Butler, and Madison Aho all of Rhode Island; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Rindhage of Fairgrove, MI; her brother, Jack Perry of Munising; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Joseph; a sister, Laurie Leffel; brothers, Buck and Bill Perry; and step-father, John Niedzwiecki.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Thursday, October 21st, beginning at 11:00 am, until the time of service at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow in the funeral home reception room.
