David Herman

ISHPEMING, MI – David A. Herman, 71, of Ishpeming, passed away early Sunday evening, October 24th, 2021, at UP Health System – Marquette.

Dave was born May 4th, 1950, in Negaunee, to Albert and Rose (Sestito) Herman and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1969. He married the late Barbara (Johnson) Herman on July 15th, 1972 and together they raised their two children in Ishpeming.

Dave was employed for more than 30 years with Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co., having worked at numerous properties and eventually retiring as a plant repairman from the Empire Mine. In his younger years, he was involved with Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council (PAAC) and volunteered with many musicals and plays in the area. He also coached Forensics at Westwood High School.

Dave was a family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his son, Jeremy Herman; daughter, Christy Herman; seven grandchildren: Marshall Nothelfer, Madison, Carter and Leah McCracken and Jackson, Julien and Jenna Herman; his sister, Rosemary Sharland; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Barbara; brother, Albert Herman, Jr.; and two sisters: Dolores Jandron and Pauline Meyers.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-3 pm, on Monday, November 1st, at Koskey Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Dave’s memory to the Negaunee Senior Citizens Center, 410 Jackson St., Negaunee, MI 49866.
