Pauline A. Johnson

ISHPEMING, MI – Pauline A. Johnson, age 88, longtime Ishpeming resident, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021, at the Eastwood Nursing Cente,r in the loving care of nursing home staff.

Pauline was born on January 16, 1933, daughter of the late Earl and Caroline (Grevious) Stephens. She attended Ishpeming Schools before going on to work at Bell Memorial Hospital and JC Penny for many years.

Pauline was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Negaunee, and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafts, going for rides, picking berries, watching the ore boats down at the Island, and spending time at camp.

Pauline is survived by 4 children- Philip A.J. Johnson, David (Julie) Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Marsha (Michael) Jarvi, 4 siblings- Bonnie Stein, Carol Johnson, Sharon (Tom) Guidebeck, Thomas (Ruth) Stephens, 9 grandchildren- Emily (David) Rushford, Elizabeth Johnson, Jolee Johnson, Sarah (Kevin Walsh) Kratz, Robert (Leslie) Johnson, Nicole (Robert) Gonzales, Eric (Heather) Jarvi, Ryan (Sarah) Jarvi, Christine Jarvi, 13 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband- Philip Johnson, 3 brothers- William, Robert, and Earl Stephens, and a daughter-in-law- Cynthia (Jarvi) Johnson.

Pauline’s family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am until 12:00pm, on Friday September 17, 2021, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Negaunee. A funeral service will follow at 12:00pm with Rev. Mike Holman officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Burial will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Pauline’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Eastwood Nursing Center nurses, housekeeping, and all staff that took such great care of Pauline over the years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Pauline.
