Linda Diane Young

NEGAUNEE, MI – Linda Diane Young, age 72, of 439 Cherry St., Negaunee, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021, at her home, while in the loving care of her family and Lake Superior Hospice.

Linda was born July 5, 1949, in Wheeling, WV, to Naomi Cope, at 3 years old she was adopted by the only man she knew as dad, Master Sergeant Samuel Richard Peale Haagen III. Sam moved the family to Ohio, where Linda would call home. At the age of 5, Linda and the family moved to Germany where she would live for the next 9 years. Moving back to Ohio to live with her great-grandmother. At the age of 17, Linda came to Michigan on a Greyhound bus, with Job corps.

She met Ruby Doucette on that bus ride, and they remained friends all these years. Linda had lots of fun living the life of a young women of the late 60’s.

In 1970, she met her husband, George. They married and raised 4 children. She loved her family. She loved to cook and spend time with her kids. She never missed a summer to go home to be with her Nanny. Linda began having health issues in her late 50’s, but pushed on. These last months of her life were her hardest.

Linda was a member of the Eastwood Apostolic Lutheran Church.

She will forever be missed by husband: George, kids: Rodney (Terri) Young of Negaunee, Richard Young of West Allis, WI, and Shelly (Alan) Koski of Republic, grandchildren: Aubrey and Samantha Young, Jed Young, Nathan (Beki Scott) Koski, Philip Koski, Elizabeth (Jake Dunlap) Koski, Amelia and Lacy Miles, great- granddaughter: Aurora Koski, son-in-law: David Miles

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, granddaughter: Janice “Dolly” Miles, and daughter: Keri Miles.

A private graveside service will be held in the Republic Township Cemetery with Dale Niskanen officiating.

A mother’s love has no end. Death does not stop a love, it only strengthens the way it goes forward.
