Lee R. Westfall

LEBANON, NH / MARQUETTE, MI – Lee R. Westfall, 84, loving husband and father of three children and proud grandparent of six grandchildren passed away on Saturday evening, September 18, 2021.

Lee was born on July 3, 1937, in Brookfield, Missouri, a son of Ernest and Elizabeth (Collier) Westfall. A talented athlete, Lee graduated from Brookfield High School and began working in the blast furnaces in Chicago before being recruited to play university football in Missouri. The temptations of world travel and exciting experiences led Lee to enlist and serve as a fire fighter in the Air Force, wherein he served in Korea. After rotating back to the USA Lee met his wife while serving in Michigan. The young couple moved to England where they had their first child, Kathy. Lee continued to play football and was part of a team that won a championship of military teams within Europe. Their second child, Michael, was soon born in Idaho, and their last, Steven, was born in Germany. At the end of his military service, and seeing the world, Lee and his family settled down in Marquette, Michigan. Lee worked at the Marquette County airport for the remainder of his work life. His retirement was filled with vacations, backyard barbeques, and days at camp with his wife and his growing family. Lee kept busy, being a loving grandparent. All his grandchildren fondly recall the many trips to pick up doughnuts or their grandfather driving them to or picking them up after sports, rehearsals, and work. After his wife died in 2010, Lee moved out to New Hampshire to live with his daughter, Kathy, wherein he became a fan of the local high school teams and continued to be the loving father to his children and grandchildren, and a kind and considerate man to all that he met.

Private interment was made in the Park Cemetery, Marquette, with veterans honors. A celebration of life will be held in Marquette next summer and will be announced.
