Karen Karki

NEGAUNEE, MI – Karen M. Karki, age 68, of 105 Huron Court, Negaunee, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, at her home, while in the loving care of her family and UP Home Health & Hospice.

Karen was born March 21, 1953, in Marquette, to Betty (Peterson) and the late John “Jack” Sleeman. She graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1971.

Karen and her husband, Rich owned and operated Karki’s Jewelry, along with other business adventures throughout her life.

Karen was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed drawing, knitting, playing softball, billiards, scrapbooking, bingo, listening to and playing music, making personalized birthday cards and cheering on her grandchildren in all their activities.

Karen is survived by her husband, Richard, whom she married on July 24, 1971, 3 children; Michelle (David) Trawick, Richard (April) Karki Jr., and Adam (Leah) Karki, 11 grandchildren; Stephen and Matthew Trawick, Kylee (Shawn) McIntyre, Ethan, Mackenzie, Jerzee, Cole, Jackson, Grant, Harrison and Ford Karki, her mother; Betty Sleeman, 3 sisters; Linda (Craig) Hawkins, Vickie (Jeff) Baldini, and Cindy (Jay) Chapman, along with many nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her father; John “Jack” Sleeman and a brother; Jackie Sleeman.

Karen’s family will greet relatives and friends from 3:00 – 5:00 pm on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Negaunee, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 5:00 pm, with Fr. Larry Van Damme officiating.

Pallbearers will be Karen’s grandchildren.

A luncheon will follow at St. Paul School Gym.
