Ida Juidici

GWINN, MI – Ida Kaarina Juidici, 99, longtime Gwinn resident, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, September 25, 2021, at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living Facility, under the care of her loving family and Lake Superior Hospice.

Ida was born May 8, 1922, in Trenary, to Arthur and Ida Aleksandra (Palokangas) Paloheimo, moved to Maple Street in Gwinn at age 12 and graduated from Forsyth Township High School, Class of 1940. She began working for Gwinn State Savings Bank while still in high school to do filing. Following graduation, she started working full-time until 1955 when she left the bank to care for her children. Ida returned part-time from 1960-74 and then began full-time again when the bank was the MFC First National Bank and Trust Company of Marquette. She retired with 42 years of exemplary service in the banking industry.

Mrs. Juidici was a devout and active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Gwinn. She also belonged to the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), Forsyth Township Historical Society, Gwinn Senior Center and the Merry Mixers. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, baking, playing cards, traveling, and spending time with her beloved family.

Surviving are her children: Ruth (Michael) Forgette and Martin (Christine) Juidici; grandchildren: Anthony (Zoey) Vecellio, Tara (Josh) Tolbert and Alex (Samantha French) Juidici; great-granchildren: Natalie and Mason Juidici, Chloe and Brooke Tolbert, and Jacob Miller; step-grandchildren: Trae (Kate) Forgette and their children, Brienne (Garrett Hein) Forgette and Alexa (Brad) Kapenga, Beau (Brandi) Forgette and their children: Evan (Jenna Thompson) Forgette and Jace Forgette; former son-in-law, Paul (Cathy) Vecellio; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ida was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 51 years, Alexander ‘Chippy’ Juidici; sisters: Saimi (Clayton) Fausch , Ilona (Robert) Holt, Helmi Lillian (Antoni) Ritz and Dorothy Elaine Paloheimo; and all of her Juidici brothers and sister-in-laws and their spouses.

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, Oct. 1st at Grace Lutheran Church in Gwinn. The family will greet relatives and friends from 2-4 pm at the church on Friday, and also at a luncheon in the church hall immedieatly following services. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Vecellio, Alex Juidici, Josh Tolbert, Jacob Miller, Paul Vecellio and Steven Syrjala. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed in her memory to Grade Lutheran Church in Gwinn.

A special thank you goes to the wonderful staff at Brookridge, both past and present, who loved Ida so much, and to her nieces: Sherry Juidici, Colleen (Annie) Boote and Irene Grage for all of their visits and care provided.
