Gary R. Rautio

Gary was born on January 25, 1953, in Ishpeming, MI, to the late Roy and Isabel (Mohn) Rautio. He graduated from Gwinn High School in 1971 and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University.

Gary married the former Robyn Mallette in 1989.

Gary worked for the Michigan Secretary of State for many years. After his retirement, he worked part-time for Tourville in the gym. He spent his life playing softball and immensely enjoyed the sport. Gary also enjoyed golfing and hiking, spending time with his family and friends, as well as going to the gym and occasional trips to the casino. He was a lifelong avid Packer fan who attended many games at Lambeau Field.

Gary is survived by his brother, William “Bill” (Pam) Rautio of Gwinn; nieces, Shannon (Brad) Parlato, Rebecca (Jayson) Dutiel and Rachel Rautio; nephew, Todd (Diana) Rautio; great- niece and nephews, Traver & Tony Parlato, Bryce & Braylen Rautio, Kendall & Alexander Dutiel and James Blumhorst; aunt, Tina Yelle; as well as, his numerous Marquette and Gwinn friends.

Besides his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Robyn Rautio, in 1990.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 1p.m., at Canale Gwinn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Park Cemetery next to his wife, Robyn, at a later date.
