LAINGSBURG, MI – Dominic R. Carello, age 47, former Ishpeming resident of Lainsburg, MI passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021.

Dominic was born in Ishpeming, MI, on June 22, 1974, a son of Kay (Bowers) McKinney, and Vito L. Carello, Sr. Dominic was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School and then served in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Dominic served in the Missouri State Police for 10 years.

While serving with the Missouri State Police, he entered the Army National Guard and served there as a helicopter pilot. While in the National Guard he completed a year tour in Iraq. He transferred to the Michigan National Guard a few years ago, serving out of the Grand Ledge Armory as a training and safety officer and helicopter instructor pilot. Dominic genuinely loved his job, and enjoyed spending time at camp, hunting and shooting.

Dominic is survived by his father – Vito (Jane) Carello of Ishpeming; mother – Kay McKinney of Lawton, OK.; two sisters – Hannah Carello of Marquette; Andrea Carello of Ogden, UT; four brothers – Vito Carello, Jr. of Norway; Anthony (Kristi) Carello of Negaunee; Curtis Bowers of OK, Joseph Bowers of Hardwood, MI; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held 11:00am until 12:00pm, on Friday, September 24, 2021, at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming, where a Memorial Service will be held at 12:00pm with the Michigan Army National Guard Chaplain officiating and Military Honors accorded by the Michigan National Guard.
