Rebecca Miriam Manty

CUMMING, GA – Rebecca Miriam Manty, age 72, fell asleep in death on Thursday, July 22, 2021. Becky was born on January 10, 1949, in Ishpeming, MI, to the late Marion (Wagner) and Hugo Sumen. Becky was a graduate of Ishpeming High School, class of 1967. She married Fran Manty on April 4, 1970, in Rochester, NY, and spent the next 16 years raising their 3 children in Binghamton, NY. In 1987, they returned to Lansing, MI, where Becky worked at Michigan State University, until her retirement in 2012, when they moved to Cumming, GA, to care for family. Becky was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses having made her dedication and was Baptized at the age of 7. She continued to advocate for God’s Kingdom for the next 65 years until the day she died. Many of her friends and clients have remarked on what a positive influence she had on their lives. Becky is survived by her husband of 51 years, Fran Manty of Cumming; son, Christopher Greg Manty of Cumming, daughter, Trina Elin Manty of Shenzhen, China; Nicolas Paul Manty of Lansing, MI: 4 grandchildren, Arabela, Caleb, Nathan and Julyssa; brothers and sisters- in-law, Richard (Sandy) Manty, Rita and Robert Theibeault, Nancy and Ronald Parkkonen, Jim and Jo Ann Manty, Donald and Barb Manty; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout the country. Becky was preceded in death by two infant sons, Brent and Loren; parents; sister, Cynthia Sumen; brother, Jeff Sumen. A Memorial Service will be held for Becky on Zoom, Saturday, July 31, at 12:00PM.
