Gregory John Goszkowski

GWINN, MI – Gregory John Goszkowski, age 72, entered into eternal life on July 3rd 2021.

Born November 17th, 1948, in Detroit, MI, the son of John and Sabina (Warminski) Goszkowski, Greg was raised in Dearborn and Allen Park. He attended Orchard Lake Seminary High School participating in baseball and as a football running back. Greg graduated in 1966.

Greg proudly served his country in the US army where he continued his love for baseball and actively served in Vietnam. Greg was honorably discharged as a Bronze Star recipient.

In 1974, Greg relocated to the Upper Peninsula with wife (Karen Goszkowski) where he enrolled at Northern Michigan University, receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction and Maintenance. During this time, he was employed in construction at KI Sawyer Air Force Base. Greg had an enjoyment for fast pitch softball, playing for Trenary and the “Original” Old Joe’s softball team. Greg was also an avid fisherman, often fishing the White Fish River for Brook Trout. Greg lived in Kipling MI, near Little Bay de Noc where his passion for fishing continued.

In 1989, Greg moved to King, WI and married (Brenda Bacchian). In WI, he was employed for 24 years as a vocational skills trainer, for Waupaca County. Greg’s greatest joy in life was being a father, he was always devoted to his involvement in his children’s lives and careers. Together they enjoyed spending time at his cabin on Bear Lake, boating and fishing.

Following retirement, Greg returned to the Gwinn area to become a devoted caregiver to his mother for the eight years prior to her death, in 2019. There Greg was a member of Little Lake American Legion Post 349, where a donation in his name will be placed. In his leisure, Greg enjoyed carpentry, gardening, fishing, sports, and following the activities of his grandchildren who shared his love for baseball and fast-pitch softball.

Greg is survived by his faithful children, Kaitlin Goszkowski of Cascade, CO and Jason (Jessica) Goszkowski of Grand Chute, WI; his grandchildren, Jaelin and Jarek Goszkowski; his sister, Sandra (Charles) Rousseau of Kiva, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Greg was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents with whom he was very close, Joseph and Jane Goszkowski and Stella and Joseph Stefan.

Honoring his request, no public services will be scheduled.
