Corey James Mattila

REPUBLIC, MI – Corey James Mattila, 30, of Cortland, OH and former Republic resident, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021, as a result of an ATV accident.

Corey was born in Carlisle, PA, on September 10, 1990, the son of Nikki L. Noll and Mark F. Mattila. Corey graduated from Boiling Springs High School, Class of 2009, where he was a District 3 wrestling champion.

Corey loved all sports, but especially enjoyed shooting pool. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Minnesota Vikings fan. He loved spending time in the outdoors of the U.P.

Corey worked for the past 5 years for KraftMaid, where he was a cabinetry specialty builder, served as a line leader and was on the safety team. He was a member of the Boiling Springs VFW Auxiliary Post 8851.

Corey is survived by his daughter; Scarlett Rose Mattila, his mother; Nikki (fiance; Rick Barber) Noll, father, Mark (Marisa) Mattila, his fiance; Kerry Ballard, grandmothers; Nancy Noll, Connie Brewer and Judy Mattila, aunt; Wendi Noll, uncle; Brandon (Kate) Noll, sisters; Tia Mattila, Kayla, Korey, and Kadie Kaukola, uncles; Don, Erik, Jeremy (Trista), and Eli (Amanda) Mattila, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Corey was preceded in death by his grandfathers; Ernie Noll and Frederick Mattila.

Corey’s family will greet relatives and friends from 4:00 – 6:00 pm, on Friday July 23, 2021, at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming, MI. Following the visitation family and friends are invited to gather at Mark Mattila’s residence.
