GWINN, MI – Sandra Jean Zanetti, 82, longtime Gwinn resident, passed away peacefully in the care of her loving family, early Tuesday morning, June 22, 2021, at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living.

Sandra was born September 30, 1938, in Escanaba, to Kenneth and Evelyn (Bruce) Peterson and graduated from Escanaba Holy Name High School, Class of 1957. She moved to Gwinn in 1964, where she resided until moving to Brookridge.

Mrs. Zanetti owned and operated her own dance studio, teaching ballroom, ballet and tap-dancing throughout her life. She also worked as a sales clerk at Froberg’s Clothing for over 15 years, retiring in 2001.

She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gwinn, the St. Anthony Altar Society, the Gwinn VFW Auxiliary and the Gwinn Chamber of Commerce. Sandra was always active and energetic; she enjoyed dance, drawing and painting, small game hunting, and loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are three daughters: Natalie (Robert) Dhamers of Marquette, Suzanne (Joseph) Macario of Princeton and Gina (Paul) Wilson of Skandia; grandchildren: Andrew (Elissa) and Bradley Macario, Kayla Dhamers and Neo Wilson; her great-granddaughter, Halle; three brothers-in-law: Richard Krutina, Dennis (Barbara) Zanetti and John (Susan) Erickson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John ‘Socko’ Zanetti in 2019; two sisters: Jackie Krutina and Cheryl (Gary) DeMars; and sisters-in-law, Julie Erickson and Sally Zanetti.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 30th, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with Rev. Allen Mott officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am, at the church, on Wednesday. Graveside services will then take place in the Gwinn Cemetery. Following interment, a luncheon will be held at the Gwinn VFW. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Sandra’s memory to the St. Anthony Parish Endowment Fund or the Gwinn VFW.
